Been on a vacation last week with only a recorder for sound collecting. Here's a small montage of sounds.

Recordings were done with an old, first version Zoom H2 recording. I guess there were mobile phones nearby in the church I was recording in causing the interference? 
Really cool ambiance! In headphones it's a great sense of space. There's something magical about recordings that capture those ephemeral moments, and it's neat to hear the shift from one place to another.
I'm not recording as much as I used to, want to actually use the recordings that have been collected over the years, though it is still great fun documenting places, especially on vacation . I can recommend getting a recording device if you don't have one yet. If you feel to self conscious about holding a mic, there are stealth solutions where you can plug in a binaural mic (which look and work similar to headphones) into the input of the recorder.
